Ratio and Proportion Problems
A ratio is a relationship between two numbers (or two objects) that defines the quantity of the first in comparison to the second. Ratio 3 to 4 can be written as 3:4 or 3 / 4. The first term 3 is called the antecedent(which goes before) and the second term 4 is called the consequent(Which goes after).
A can do a piece of work in 10 days. B is 50 % more efficient than A. Find the number of days it takes B to do the same piece of work ?
Solution
A : B Efficency 100 : 150 Days 150 : 100 or 3 : 2 So the number of days taken by B to complete the work = ( 2 / 3 )* 10 = 6(2/3) days
If a:b = 2:3 and b:c = 4:3, then find a:b:c
Solution
a:b=2:3 b:c=4:3=(4*34:3*34) =3:9/4 a:b:c=2:3:9/4 =8:12:9
